Letters do not 'make sounds' - they represent, in print, the phonemes used in spoken language. So the 'sounds' depend on the word.

We predominantly take a 'speech to print' approach.
'Speech Sounds to Speech Sound Pictures (Sound Pics)'
- Phonemic awareness to Phonics, so that children can decode with fluency and can therefore comprehend the text! Encoding is taught alongside decoding skills.

We 'Code Map' all words, including those traditionally taught as 'sight words' because they include graphemes not covered in the systematic phonics teaching.
